How Co-op Works in Fashion Design

Drexel’s award-winning cooperative education program (Co-op) adds professional development to the classroom and studio experience. Students graduate with full-time, practical work experience in their field of study. The benefits are obvious—during their time at Drexel, Fashion Design students work six months at a fashion industry job in their chosen area of interest. A Drexel Co-op experience connects students with fashion and retail industry leaders, and provides professional insight and skill development that students bring back into the classroom. All Fashion Design students participate in Drexel’s nationally recognized co-op program, which requires them to work for six months in the industry in their third year during Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer. Our students work in co-op positions at major designers and national and international brands in New York City, Los Angeles, and fashion-centric cities all over the world.

Fashion Design students are widely pursued for diverse cooperative education opportunities in the US and abroad, allowing them to earn up to six months of industry experience before graduation. Studies show that our graduates with co-op experience earn higher starting salaries and performance ratings.
