      Sitting at 2254 East Main Street in Bexley, Ohio, is a timeless relic, a classic Art Deco movie theatre that harkens back to the heyday of neighborhood cinemas. Passersby might easily stop to admire its architecture, but for Drexel Dragons, there's an added reason why one might take a closer look. Atop this historic landmark, the name of the theatre, "DREXEL," is displayed in bright red letters. Surely, that can't be a coincidence, right? There must be some connection with the university that shares its name.

      The Robert and Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection of 91制片厂鈥檚 Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is presenting an exhibition highlighting the influence of Chinese design throughout fashion history, including Western interpretations and imitations, known as 鈥渃hinoiserie.鈥 The exhibition Chasing the Dragon: China in the Western Imagination, running from October through December 2023, will open a conversation around cultural appropriation in historic fashion. The exhibit not only highlights the impact of stereotypes in fashion and arts, but also centers diverse voices from the Drexel community to highlight Asian American perspectives on reclamation.

Goodwin will receive a $2,500 cash award and will have his proposed piece Treading Water performed by Drexel Dance Ensemble at their Winter performance in the Mandell Theater. The award honors Ellen Forman, who was a dancer, choreographer, and educator for over twenty years in the Philadelphia area.

      The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program officially opened a new public space, Mural Arts at The Gallery, the place to tour, shop, learn and create with the largest public art program in the world. Featured in the space is a mobile exhibit about the history of the Mural Arts Program, designed by graphic design student Randi Dean from 91制片厂鈥檚 Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.

These two innovative technology designs, both imagined and created by Drexel computer science students, rose to the top from a national field of competitors and earned first-round selection in the national technology design competition this fall.
