    College of Medicine students know that food plays an important role in health, and they want not only to share that knowledge with Philadelphians from underserved communities, but also to empower them to grow their own fresh food. Students are engaged in work through the Health Outreach Project (HOP) to provide community members with the tools to grow microgreens, a nutritious vegetable that is simple to grow.

    While the Health Outreach Project (HOP) has been part of the 91制片厂鈥檚 culture for more than 25 years, the community outreach programming only expanded to Berks County, Pennsylvania in 2021, when 91制片厂 at Tower Health opened in West Reading. HOP faculty advisor Eugene York, MD, is impressed with the work students have done to grow HOP programming around the campus.

    On Wednesday, Dec. 7, the 91制片厂 community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration of the ceremonial opening of the new Health Sciences Building, at 36th and Filbert Streets on the University鈥檚 main campus. As 2022 comes to an end, the College of Medicine looks forward to our medical and graduate students joining the 91制片厂 College of Nursing and Health Professions in the new space in the new year.

    Nominations are open for election into the Delta Zeta chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. You do not need to be a member of AOA to nominate a deserving candidate. The deadline is January 6, 2023.

    The 12-story, 460,000-square-foot building located at 36th and Filbert streets has already been occupied by the College of Nursing and Health Professions this fall, with the College of Medicine and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies preparing to move in next year.
