The Graduate Student Association (GSA) of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies consists of three executive boards, one for each division in the Graduate School.

Taylor Flynn

Taylor Flynn
Executive President

Taylor is a fifth-year MD/PhD student in the Department of Neurobiology & Anatomy at 91制片厂. She graduated from Virginia Tech with bachelor’s degrees in neuroscience, biology and psychology, and then spent three years as a research assistant and clinical coordinator at Yale University. Her current research focuses on the short- and long-term effects of adolescent exposure to psilocybin, the active ingredient in so-called “magic mushrooms.” Taylor is passionate about her community and finding ways to bring everyone together through social, service and professional opportunities, and she is excited to bring her community-building enthusiasm to the BSGSA. 

Celensia Tolson

Celensia Tolson
Executive Vice President

Celensia is a second-year PhD student in the Microbiology and Immunology program at 91制片厂. She graduated with a BS in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of South Carolina – Columbia. She then received an MS in microbiology and immunology from Georgetown University. Her research currently focuses on developing protective immunity against malaria induced by immunizations with mRNA vaccines targeting blood-stage parasites. Celensia strives to enhance communication between program and first-year liaisons with the BSGSA to assess the needs of students and determine how the BSGSA can better serve them. She aims to be a strong advocate for the students and is motivated to help unite students in the Division of Biomedical Sciences.

Zach Capriotti

Zach Capriotti
Vice President of Finance

Zach is a fourth-year PHD candidate in the Molecular and Cell Biology and Genetics program at 91制片厂. He completed his undergraduate studies at Syracuse University where he earned a dual degree in biology and marketing. He then went on to work in health care marketing at Publicis Health Media for a year before starting grad school. His research is focused on uncovering mechanisms of HIV-driven innate immune memory in the brain’s resident immune cells, microglia. As vice president of finance, Zach handles all purchasing for BSGSA and manages the budget to ensure spending is efficient and carried out in the best interest of the students.

Arden Edgerton

Arden Edgerton
Vice President of Operations

Arden Edgerton is a third-year PhD student in the Microbiology and Immunology program at 91制片厂. Her research focuses on strategies to enhance CD8鈦 T cell function in chronic infection and cancer, with an emphasis on translational immunology and therapeutic development, including nucleic acid vaccines and lipid nanoparticle delivery systems. Arden earned her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from 91制片厂. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked at Century Therapeutics, contributing to the development of gene-edited, iPSC-derived immune cell therapies. She is currently serving her second year as vice president of operations for the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Association, where she supports organizational initiatives and helps foster collaboration and community across Drexel’s biomedical graduate programs.

Samuel Krause

Samuel Krause
Vice President of Event Management

In his undergraduate studies at Ursinus College, Sam performed honors research focused on histological tissue analysis of axolotl tail regeneration, looking at the impact of diet on tissue structure and gross tissue growth. During this time, he also performed clinical duties with Dr. Francis Clark at Wills Eye, learning about cutting-edge ophthalmic therapies. Post-graduation, he worked at a large pharmaceutical company developing novel vaccines for widespread viruses that represent a significant health burden. Here, Sam has worked extensively with bioreactors and mammalian cell cultures. His current research focuses on the spatial role of fibroblasts in pancreatic cancer, using the Xenium platform and pancreatic cancer models to investigate potential future therapies.

Lilly Oni

Lilly Oni
Vice President of Professional Development

Lilly is a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Biochemistry of Health and Disease program at 91制片厂. She graduated with a BS in biological sciences from 91制片厂 in 2022, before joining the PhD program at Drexel. Her research focuses on the secondary structure and function of lncRNAs and viral RNAs involved in liver cancer, particularly in the context of hepatitis B virus. Lilly enjoys creating spaces where students can come together to discuss and navigate the challenges of determining their next steps in their professional paths. She is also passionate about connecting students with resources and conversations that support informed career decision-making.

 
Jasper Perry-Anderson

Jasper Perry-Anderson
Vice President of Student Culture and Community

Jasper is a fourth-year Microbiology and Immunology PhD program candidate currently studying glycolysis enzymes in malaria parasites. They previously did physical chemistry research as an undergraduate student at Oberlin and are glad to be applying biophysics (metabolism and microscopy) to global health. Outside of the lab, Jasper likes soccer, music and cooking. As vice president of student culture and community, Jasper is committed to organizing events and providing resources in order to foster a supportive and collaborative learning community. 

Alice LeTran

Vice President of Alumni Engagement

Alice is currently a second-year Neuroscience PhD student at 91制片厂. She is currently studying how IL-1B after a mild pediatric brain injury causes spatial learning deficits. In her role as vice president of alumni engagement, she acts as a liaison between the Executive Board and the Drexel biomedical graduates, organizing events and promoting communication between past and current students for professional purposes.  

Khairah Adedotun

Khairah Adedotun
First-Year Liaison

Khairah is a first-year master’s student in the Microbiology and Immunology program at 91制片厂. She graduated with a bachelor’s in medical laboratory science from Afe Babalola University in Nigeria. She then got her certification as an international medical laboratory scientist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Her research interests lie in understanding the immune system and leveraging techniques in manipulating immune pathways for the treatment of diseases. As a first-year liaison, Khairah is committed to bridging the gap between first-years and other graduate students and being a representative for the needs of her cohort. During her free time, Khairah enjoys crocheting for friends and family, visiting new places and trying out new foods.

Henok Ermias: Graduate Student Association

Henok Ermias

President

Henok Ermias is a second-year master’s thesis student in Drug Discovery and Development at Drexel. He is from Seattle, Washington, and has lived in New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Texas before Philadelphia. He graduated from Weatherford, Oklahoma, with his BS in chemistry and plans on applying to the PhD program in Pharmacology and Physiology. He currently works in a research lab focusing on schizophrenia. He is excited to work with the ICO GSA executive board this upcoming year and looks forward to helping put together plenty of engaging events and activities for our students.

Lucie Stein: Graduate Student Association

Lucie Stein

Vice President

Lucie Stein is a second-year student in the Pathologists’ Assistant program. She grew up in a family of artists in Vermont and in 2017 earned her BS in medical laboratory science from the University of Vermont. After working in Boston, Massachusetts, for a year at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in hematology, she worked at the University of Vermont Medical Center in microbiology for four years before applying to Drexel. With her background in art, she delights in the detail-oriented work of pathology and enjoys educating others about science. In her free time Lucie loves rock climbing, tennis, hiking, and making art and rave costumes for herself and her husband.

Samantha Heinlein: Graduate Student Association

Treasurer

Samantha Heinlein is a second-year student in the Pathologists’ Assistant program. She was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and earned her BS in psychology at Fairfield University in Connecticut. She had been working as a licensed pharmacy technician prior to moving to Philadelphia to start the MS in PathA program at Drexel. Being here for over a year with her husband and two dogs, Philadelphia is now home. In her free time, she enjoys reading, true crime podcasts and exploring the city. She was introduced to GSA last year as a class representative and is excited to be more involved this year as a board member.

Jesty Patel is a second-year year Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development student at Drexel. She is a Doctor of Pharmacy graduate from India and moved to Philadelphia in the fall of 2023. She has prior event management experience and is looking forward to working as an event coordinator for ICO-GSA, organizing meaningful as well as fun events for students.

Younes Labsh Abazid

Younes Labsh Abazid

President

Younes Labsh Abazid is a graduate student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program, where he is passionate about bridging clinical care, health equity and community engagement. He earned his BS in human biology with a minor in health, medicine and human values from North Carolina State University and has experience in patient advocacy, research and academic mentorship. His current capstone explores the long-term health impacts of chemical weapons in Syria — a project that reflects his commitment to global health justice.

As president of the Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Graduate Student Association, Younes is dedicated to building community, advocating for meaningful opportunities, and creating platforms that empower future health care leaders. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading and exploring Philadelphia’s local coffee shops.

Michel Kane-Jackson

Michel Kane-Jackson is a second-year MS student in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from Baltimore, Maryland. They earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Towson University, where their passion for health care and community first began to take shape.

As vice president for the 2025–2026 school year, Michel is committed to ensuring that every student feels included and engaged within the PMPH community. They are also deeply invested in raising awareness and educating others about health care crises affecting underserved populations.

Outside their academic and leadership roles, Michel enjoys playing tennis, exploring video games and watching horror movies.

Grace Adeleke

Grace Adeleke is a second-year MS student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she earned her BS in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she first discovered her enthusiasm for building community through shared experiences.

As the events coordinator for the 2025–2026 school year, Grace is excited to create inclusive, engaging and memorable events that unite the PMPH community. She believes meaningful connections start with thoughtful planning — and is committed to making every gathering an opportunity for growth, celebration and belonging.

When she’s not planning events or diving into coursework, Grace enjoys trying new restaurants, roller-skating, shopping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Kaitlyn Feliciano

Kaitlyn Feliciano

Kaitlyn Feliciano is a second-year MS student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program. She holds a BS in biological sciences and health professions from Penn State University. Her clinical interests include supporting underserved communities facing healthcare disparities. While at Penn State, she volunteered with the LION Mobile Clinic, a student-led free clinic that provided blood pressure screenings and helped connect individuals to available healthcare resources. Currently in the Philadelphia area, she volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, bringing comfort and hope to families during their hospital stays. As secretary, she hopes to foster a sense of connection within the PMPH program and to contribute a thoughtful and dependable voice to the team. She also aims to help students create lasting memories and stay informed about the many resources and activities available to them during their time at Drexel. In her free time, Kaitlyn loves shopping, traveling, and making sweet treats for her friends to enjoy.

Stephanie Kosashvili

Stephanie Kosashvili is a second-year MS student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program at 91制片厂. She earned a double Bachelor of Science in neuroscience and psychology from Temple University, combining her interest in the brain with insights into human behavior. Stephanie is a first-generation immigrant from Eastern Europe whose multicultural background has deeply influenced her passion for improving health care for lower-income communities.

Outside the classroom, Stephanie volunteers with the American Red Cross as part of the Disaster Action Team and holds a national phlebotomy certification. She also works in neuropharmacology research at 91制片厂, focusing on drug interactions. As PMPH GSA treasurer, Stephanie is excited to help create a vibrant and supportive graduate community. She looks forward to collaborating with other GSA members to create opportunities and experiences that foster both academic success and personal connections for current and incoming students.

Sara Flynn

Philanthropy and Community Outreach Chair

Sara Flynn is a second-year graduate student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program, where she is earning her master’s degree with a focus on integrating science, health care and community advocacy. She holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and pathology from 91制片厂 and brings experience from Penn Medicine as a clinical service representative, GlaxoSmithKline in pharmaceutical R&D, and from Bristol Myers Squibb in CAR-T cell therapy manufacturing.

As a Philadelphia native, Sara has always been driven by a commitment to service and equity. As philanthropy and community outreach chair, she is excited to strengthen the IHS community’s connection to the broader city through meaningful service opportunities. Her goal is to create accessible, consistent and impactful volunteer initiatives that reflect the values of compassion, collaboration and social responsibility. Sara believes that giving back is not just something we do, it's who we are. She is eager to help students find joy and purpose through service.

Ifeoma Iloka

DPMS Representative

Ifeoma Iloka is an MS student in the Drexel Pathway to Medical School program. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., she is a first-generation college graduate. She earned a double BS in neuroscience and biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. After graduating, she worked as a pharmacy technician and later as a registered behavior technician for children with autism. She is interested in the intersections between medicine, behavior and psychology. Additionally, she is passionate about advocacy for health disparities that affect minority populations. As a DPMS representative, she hopes to increase the engagement of DPMS students with the greater PMPH student body. She also hopes to be a voice for DPMS in the GSA and cultivate a more inclusive environment for the students.

IHS Representative

Ella Ageh is a second-year MS student in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences (IHS) program at 91制片厂. She earned her BS in biology with a minor in studio art from Baylor University. Her academic interests center on pediatric health disparities and community-centered care. Ella is deeply involved in student advocacy, serving as a mentor and resource for incoming IHS students while working to strengthen collaboration across PMPH programs. A passionate volunteer, she contributes to church leadership, youth mentorship and health care pipeline initiatives. In her free time, Ella enjoys tutoring, Legos, naps and DIY projects.

Daniel Lim

Daniel Lim

MBS Representative

Daniel Lim is a second-year MS student in the Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program. He earned his BA in public policy at the University of California, Riverside, with a focus on health and population policy. His research interests lie in addressing health disparities through community-based research and examining the longitudinal effects of regional/national health policy implementation. As the MBS representative, he hopes to advocate for student needs, strengthen relationships within the PMPH programs, and foster a supportive environment where mental well-being and academic success are equally prioritized.

About the Graduate Student Association (GSA) of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies

The Graduate School GSA represents over 800 students and provides a variety of services to enhance the Drexel experience. The GSA executive boards oversee but are not limited to:

  • Creating a community within their respective programs, divisions and the Graduate School as a whole.
  • Creating and supporting professional and career development opportunities.
  • Student representation and voting on the Graduate School Committees, including the Graduate Council.
  • Travel awards for the biomedical science programs.
  • Supporting annual events such as orientation, commencement and faculty awards.
  • Student mentoring program.
  • Networking and social events.
  • Oversee community outreach, initiate service projects and volunteer opportunities.

As stated in the GSA bylaws, the purpose of this group is to:

  • Operate in compliance with the by-laws of the Biomedical Graduate Student Association;
  • Advise the University Student Council on matters of mutual concern to the School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies and the School of Medicine;
  • Provide a channel for communication among the graduate students, the University, and the community;
  • Serve the graduate students and represent their interests in the University and the community;
  • Promote understanding and intellectual stimulation among graduate students, the University, and the community;
  • Improve the position of graduate students in academic and extracurricular matters;
  • Elevate the quality and standards of graduate education;
  • Guarantee the rights and privileges of graduate students as members of the University and the community.
