Premedical and Health Graduate Education

About the Division

The Division of Premedical & Health Graduate Education offers a diverse portfolio of programs designed to support students at different stages of their journey into the health professions. Whether you are seeking direct clinical training or preparing to become a competitive applicant to medical or other health professional schools, our programs provide pathways to help you achieve your goals.

Our program offerings fall into two primary categories: clinical training programs and premed/prehealth postbaccalaureate programs, with courses delivered at our Health Sciences Building and Elkins Park campuses.

Clinical Training Programs

Our clinical training programs prepare students for advanced roles in healthcare through a combination of rigorous coursework and hands-on clinical experience. All programs are accredited by their respective accrediting bodies.

Master of Science in Pathologists’ Assistant (PathA)

This NAACLS-accredited program trains students to provide anatomic pathology services under the supervision of a pathologist. The curriculum includes three semesters of didactic coursework at the Health Sciences Building followed by 12 months of clinical rotations at affiliated sites. After program completion, graduates become eligible to sit for the ASCP Board of Certification exam. Learn more here.

Salus at Drexel Physician Assistant Studies Program

This ARC-PA–accredited, full-time 25-month program prepares graduates to become integral members of today’s healthcare teams. Students complete three semesters of didactic coursework at the Elkins Park Campus and 13 months of clinical training at affiliated sites. Graduates earn a Master of Medical Science (MMS), which makes them eligible to sit for the NCCPA PA Certifying Examination (PANCE). Learn more here.

Human Lactation Consultant Certification Program

One of only a limited number of university-based programs nationwide, this LEAARC and CAAHEP-accredited program prepares students to become internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC). The curriculum includes 8 credits of didactic coursework and 8 credits of experiential learning and can be completed in as little as two semesters. Learn more here.

Premed & Prehealth Programs

Our premedical and prehealth programs are designed for individuals seeking to strengthen their academic record or for career changers to acquire the, prerequisite coursework, in preparation for application to health professions programs, including medicine, dentistry, physician assistant studies, podiatry, optometry, and more.

We offer five master’s-level record-enhancer programs as well as an evening certificate program for career changers. All programs are affiliated with Drexel’s MD program, either via a conditional acceptance or guaranteed interviews. Learn more here.

Drexel Pathway to Medical School

鈥淚 cannot say enough about the Drexel Pathway to Medical School program. It was extremely challenging, but the rigor of it made the transition to medical school much smoother. Not only does the material overlap with a lot of the M1 material we are currently studying, but I was able to figure out how I learn best. The support we received from faculty and alumni during Drexel Pathway to Medical School continues to be an invaluable resource now as a first-year medical student.鈥 Read more.
