Drexel’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for our 2025 Commencement ceremony will be Grammy Award-winning musician, producer, and composer James Poyser.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced today its new Board of Directors. The move follows a multi-year restructuring of the Academy’s bylaws and governance to be more representative of the industry communities it serves. Among the new members of the Board is Michelle McHugh, assistant teaching professor in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.

The Westphal Dean’s Office of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (IDEA), in partnership with the Westphal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council (DEIC), are pleased to announce the recipients of its inaugural IDEA-Development, Education, and Cultivation (DEC) Mini-grants. These small seed grants, in amounts between $500-1000 support projects that develop, educate, and cultivate inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism in accordance with the College’s Strategic Plan.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Screenwriting & Playwriting Jeffrey Stanley, in partnership with Bangalore Little Theatre, will oversee the short play contest Sultans and Soldiers: How Two Indian Muslim Kings Energized the US Revolutionary War. Open to Drexel students with majors in Cinema & Television, Dance, English & Philosophy, or History. Prizes include gift certificates to the Drexel Bookstore and the chance for winning plays to move forward to the development stage with Drexel and Bangalore Little Theatre – with a possible future production.

Screenwriting & Playwriting senior Chloe Tolderlund won 2nd place in the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Collab Student Competition for Groei, a seating system made of repeating elements.

In summer term of 2021, eight undergraduate students from Westphal College of Media Arts & Design participated in Drexel’s STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) Scholars Program through the Pennoni Honors College. The STAR Scholars Program enables a cohort of highly motivated early undergraduate students to engage in faculty-mentored research, scholarship, or creative work. This year’s STAR Scholars Summer Showcase featured in-person and virtual presentations from participating students.

Ten students from the Cinema & Television Department of the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design are nominated for a —a Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Award—for Westphal's student-produced sitcom Off Campus. Off Campus takes home NATAS Award on October 13.

The end of spring term is rapidly approaching, and for many students, this is the busiest time of year. It’s impossible not to feel enormous pride in the creative and accomplished work that is the culmination of years of hard work and study. This year's Senior Show Exhibitions of Work include Fashion Design, Digital Media, Film & Video, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography, Design & Merchandising and Product Design.

BioDesign Challenge is a special topics course that will be offered this winter term and is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. Participants will work towards a coveted spot in the annual , an annual competition held in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).

Tony Award-winning Broadway producer and New York Times bestselling author, Vivek Tiwary, will return to campus this fall to deliver Jagged Little Pill, a public lecture that speaks to his work bringing Alanis Morissette's iconic album to the stage.

The fun begins at 2PM on Monday, June 12 at the International House (3710 Chestnut Street), when sixteen senior directors will screen their projects. You’ll find a mix of genres including documentaries, experimental films, narratives, and music videos.

, an award winning journalist and author of – the inspiration for the new Amazon original series , will visit on Thursday, November 17 for a screening and book signing event that is free and open to the public in our URBN Annex Screening Room starting at 7pm. The event is presented by the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies.

Drexel's Co-op Theatre Company will welcome Eric Davis, aka , whose work as a preeminent buffoon and physical theater artist of our time will charm, disarm, shock, and amuse you.

This summer, several of our 2016 graduates, undergraduates, and alumni are driving to Connecticut to shoot their first feature film, DWELLING.  The project was developed over the 2015-16 school year with a collective mindset and written for a micro budget.

For the sixth year, Westphal students from Film & Video, Screenwriting & Playwriting, Television, Digital Media, and related programs will travel to Los Angeles for the Drexel in LA experience.

The fun begins at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9th at the International House (3710 Chestnut Street), when 18 senior directors will screen their projects.

Also from the Cinema & Television department, Seniors from the Screenwriting & Playwriting Program will present their capstone projects for 2016 in University Crossings 028 (3715 JFK Blvd) on Wednesday, June 8th at 7pm.

A new episode of The Pretentious Film Majors (PFM) will air on Friday, April 15^th at 8pm on DUTV, Drexel’s Television station carried throughout Philadelphia on Comcast channels 54 and 62 and Verizon channel 37.
