The Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is excited to introduce our inaugural Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Francis Tanglao Aguas. Joining us from William & Mary College in Williamsburg, VA, Francis has already brought energy and ideas into our community as we strengthen a culture of belonging.

In spring 2022, Drexel’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and Curtis Institute of Music presented Rehearsing Philadelphia: A Meta-Score by Ari Benjamin Meyers through a series of events across the city. Rehearsing Philadelphia was initially conceived prior to the start of the pandemic, but the project’s driving questions – centered around justice, virtuosity, access, memory, and togetherness – were shaped and reshaped by COVID’s impact. Taking place across the city, Rehearsing Philadelphia became a poignant analogy for the ways in which people would come back together, as pairings, small groups, and large collectives.

Ashlyn Bird, Gavin Clarke, Mina Johnson, Maya Micci Morrison, Bibhav Pradhan, and Catherine Stagliano—students in Drexel Westphal’s nationally-ranked Music Industry program—are 2021 recipients of awards from the Music Business Association Scholarship Foundation. Each student will receive $5,000 toward their tuition for the upcoming academic year.

Each year, Drexel Magazine recognizes some of the most promising, entrepreneurial, creative, and inspiring alumni under the age of 40. These alumni launched new companies in the middle of an historic downturn, reimagined how they delivered on their talents, and, collectively, adapted their professional environments to the unique challenges of 2020. This year, seven Westphal College of Media Arts & Design alumni were highlighted as nominees of the Class of 2021.

Resilience, a new game created by , a senior student team from the Digital Media Department, Music Industry Program, and College of Computing & Informatics (CCI), has been selected as the winner of the 2020 Awards in the Best Student Game category.

Charles Peck, a ’10 alum of the Music Industry program at 91ÖÆƬ³§, is the recipient of the 2019 Young Alumni Emerging Leader Award, presented by 91ÖÆƬ³§ Alumni Relations.

The new associate program director of 91ÖÆƬ³§’s music industry program is using his experiences as the bassist of the indie electronica band to teach students about being on the live music side of the music industry.

For the last five years, Drexel student Gabby Frost has expanded the Buddy Project non-profit organization she founded that promotes mental health awareness and suicide prevention — and she has no plans to stop.

BioDesign Challenge is a special topics course that will be offered this winter term and is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. Participants will work towards a coveted spot in the annual , an annual competition held in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).

Romanticism, mythological creatures, the Taj Mahal, and engineered infrastructure were the inspiration for some of our student designers whose collections will be featured in Fashion '17, Drexel University’s Annual Fashion Show, on Saturday, June 10 at the Urban Outfitters Corporate Headquarters in Philadelphia's Navy Yard (5000 South Broad St., Building 543). The first show will be held at 4PM with a ticket price of $30. The second show will be held at 8PM and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception with a ticket price of $60. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased . 

Support for this College’s faculty’s creative and scholarly research is vital now more than ever in our time of diminishing governmental, foundation, and corporate support. The Westphal College’s Mini Grants and Creativity Awards program is dedicated to doing just that.

Bob Gruen and Rona Elliot, rock and roll veterans, will get together on Wednesday, May 3 in our , where Gruen's photographs are on display now through May 26, to discuss his lively and long career, and his latest book, Rock Seen.

The Triangle: Ableton Partners with Flux for Production Presentation

, the Berlin-based source for the products that contemporary musicians, producers, and DJs utilize when creating and performing their music, is visiting Westphal as part of their 2017 University Tour, bringing a series of presentations that will inspire experienced musicians and novice music-makers alike.

April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and to honor this historical and culturally rich art form our will perform a dual-concert with Howard University's Jazz Ensemble at Drexel's annual Jazz Extravaganza.

Five high school students will receive scholarships to attend our summer Music Industry program, thanks to the generous support of the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation.
