      For more than 25 years, the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) program has been helping women develop the professional and personal skills to lead in academic medicine and health care. ELAM graduates, known as ELUMs, now number over 1,200. In 2021, a remarkable 11 of the program’s alumnae were appointed deans or interim deans of medical schools. Three of these ELUMs shared about their experience with the program and its importance in academic medicine.

WIMSC held the Friday, Dec. 3 event in collaboration with the Offices of Faculty, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as well as the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program.

      91制片厂, Tower Health and local community members came together Tuesday, July 27 to celebrate the grand opening of the new four-year regional medical campus, 91制片厂 at Tower Health. The campus, located less than one mile and within walking distance to Reading Hospital, will welcome its inaugural class of 40 first-year medical students in early August.

      <p style="margin: 0in;">91制片厂&rsquo;s MXene material is one step closer to transforming the lives of people suffering from end-stage kidney disease. Nephria Bio, Inc., a U.S.-based spin-off of the South Korean medical device company EOFlow Co., Ltd., has signed a licensing agreement with the University to use the two-dimensional material, discovered at Drexel, as a filter in a wearable artificial kidney device it is developing. The technology could allow many of the millions of people suffering from end-stage kidney disease worldwide to move more freely, without spending hours each week anchored to large dialysis machines.</p>

      On the final day of 2020, a year defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, College of Medicine faculty physicians learned they would be able to expand COVID-19 testing in underserved communities with funding from the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health and the Philadelphia Mental Health Care Corporation (PMHCC). With $155,468 distributed across six months, the College of Medicine can now provide free, rapid COVID-19 testing to communities in need.

    • Dayna's Footprints 2020 fundraiser

      In spite of the disruptions of 2020, alumnus-founded organization Dayna’s Footprints had its most successful year yet, providing 150 pairs of shoes to children in need. The organization was founded in 2019 by Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences (IHS) student Sam Sayed and his brother, Sharif. The brothers were inspired by the memory of their sister Dayna, who tragically died in a drive-by shooting when she was 16 years old.

    • Performers at the Pediatric AIDS Benefit Concert

      The 28th annual 91制片厂 Pediatric AIDS Benefit Concert (PABC) took place virtually due to COVID-19, and although the change of venue was disappointing, student organizers knew the show must go on. Since its inaugural show, PABC has raised over $600,000 for the patients of the Dorothy Mann Center for Pediatric and Adolescent HIV at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

      The Institute for Women&rsquo;s Health and Leadership at 91制片厂 will present the Woman One Award to Jeri Lynne Johnson, Founder and Artistic Director of the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, on April 26, 2021, in a livestreamed webcast from the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, starting at 5:30 p.m.
