Onboarding Tools for Managers

Onboarding is an essential part of setting up a new professional staff member for success, and you and your team play a crucial role in onboarding new staff members in a way that is specific to your department and their role within it. To support managers in conducting department-specific onboarding activities, HR has developed the following three templates, available on the , that you are encouraged to customize to your needs:

  • Welcome Guide for New Drexel Employees: Managers and department administrators can edit this guide to provide department-specific information for new hires, including a welcome message, contacts, web links, and necessary system access.
  • Manager Guide for New Hire Onboarding: This editable guide provides a list of actions the manager should take during the new hire’s first 90 days, including providing equipment, setting goals, tracking compliance, and completing an introductory review.
  • Introductory Meeting Talking Points: You are encouraged to have new hires meet with representatives from the teams they will be working with regularly – both within and outside your department. To help facilitate these meetings, this document contains suggested discussion topics and talking points. You can customize this document and share it with those who are meeting with your new hires.
