Research is of crucial importance to the field of criminal justice, helping to ensure that the industry keeps pace with the constant evolution of society and technology. The Drexel Department of Criminology and Justice Studies faculty are internationally and nationally recognized experts across a broad range of topics that investigate real-world questions about crime, criminal behavior, and the criminal justice system. Faculty collaborate with criminal justice agencies, professional organizations, and researchers from many different disciplines to combine expertise and address complex challenges.
Research Projects
The is an international, interdisciplinary research project that documents the implementation and impact of Scandinavian-inspired correctional practices in Pennsylvania prisons. The project is led by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and the Philadelphia Department of Prisons, in collaboration with the correctional services in Sweden and Norway.
The Drexel Justice Collaborative brings together faculty, students, and community partners to examine criminal justice policy and practices by linking law, policy, and social research. This partnership between the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies and Drexel's Thomas R. Kline School of Law serves as a lab where faculty and students across disciplines learn about and take part in justice-related research and community projects.
