Gait Laboratory

Clare Milner, PhD, FACSM, FASB, directs the Gait and Movement Biomechanics Research Laboratory, where her research uses biomechanics and related approaches to understand factors that affect human movement. Her work examines how people adapt their movement to the demands of different activities and environments, investigates technologies that support or augment movement, and develops approaches for measuring movement both within and beyond the laboratory.

Milner is an associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. She received her PhD from the School of Biomedical Sciences at Leeds University, Great Britain, and completed postdoctoral training at the Center for Locomotion Studies at Pennsylvania State University and in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware. She teaches research methods and biomechanics at the doctoral level.

Milner is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Society of Biomechanics. She has held professional service and leadership roles in scientific programming and peer-reviewed publishing in biomechanics, sports medicine, and exercise science.
