Required Clearances for Field Experience

91ÖÆƬ³§ School of Education

Any 91ÖÆƬ³§ student completing field experiences in a PK-12 or clinical setting in the presence of minors must provide copies of clearances which are valid for the location of their placement. These clearances should be submitted upon admission to the program and are required ahead of a student's first field experience course. Students conducting a field experience will be required to obtain the following based on the location of their placement. The School of Education Field Placement Office and Advising Team works with the Human Resources Compliance Team at SOEclearances@drexel.edu to process clearance documents for students.

If you are doing your field placement in state outside of Pennsylvania, Drexel requires an FBI on file, but there are a few options:

Option 1: Complete in Pennsylvania

Option 2: Complete in State Serviced by IdentoGO

If you’re located in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Colorado, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, or West Virginia, you may follow the instructions to the left and select an IdentoGO location in your state. You will incur an additional “out of state” fee.

Option 3: Complete in State NOT Serviced by IdentoGO

Email SOEclearances@drexel.edu and ask for the “out of state ink print instructions”. Please reference the state you are currently in. You may incur an additional “ink service” fee.

Option 4: Obtain for State of Field Placement

If you have an FBI clearance that clearly indicates that it was a fingerprint search (as opposed to a name search) and includes the results of the search, please email it to SOEclearances@drexel.edu for consideration.
Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training 91ÖÆƬ³§ School of Education students must complete the required Reporter Training before starting their field experience. Mandated Reporter Training prepares students with the proper information on how to handle and report issues they experience at a school. Mandated Reporter Training is conducted online. You can register and complete the training at the . Candidates must save a copy of the certificate and forward a copy to SOEclearances@drexel.edu Students are required to complete a mandated reporting training in the state of their field placement or complete the Pennsylvania version.

NOTE: *Per Drexel policy, clearances expire 5 years from the date of issuance, and it is the student's responsibility to maintain updated clearances. Some schools and school districts may require clearances to be valid within one year from the date of issuance to conduct field experience within their school/district. Drexel students will be notified of any placement specific clearance requirements on a case-by-case basis by the Field Placement Office.
