Drexel's MSCHE Self-Study: Public Comment Period Opens July 7-25

This message was shared with the Drexel community on June 24, 2026.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

As a reminder, 91ÖÆƬ³§ is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and is currently undertaking a self-study, or reflective deep dive, as part of our accreditation review that began in October 2024. The centerpiece of this process is the self-study document, which describes Drexel and how it meets the seven standards set forth by MSCHE.

Drexel was successfully accredited in 2022. However, federal regulation requires any college or school undergoing a complex substantive change to undertake an immediate review with its institutional accreditor. Under the normal accreditation cycle, this review would not occur until the 2030-31 academic year. However, the merger with Salus University necessitates conducting the review earlier.

Drexel’s MSCHE Standards Committee — composed of over 100 faculty, students and staff from across campus and organized into seven committees — was charged with writing the self-study document. We are pleased to share that the self-study will soon be ready for public comment and invite you to participate in this important process between July 7 and July 25, 2026.

MSCHE 2026 Webinars

Please join the MSCHE 2026 co-chairs for an online webinar about the self-study, where we will speak about the process, timeline, MSCHE standards and internal recommendations that resulted from this process.

Why Participate in the Self-Study?

The self-study is a 100-page document that describes Drexel — including mission and goals, the academic experience, governance and leadership — in the context of seven standards set forth by MSCHE. In eliciting public comment, we are seeking to involve members from all areas of the institutional community in an inclusive and transparent self-appraisal process. By providing feedback, you will strengthen Drexel as an institution focused on continuous improvement and progress toward our mission and priorities.

As you can imagine, 100 pages cannot capture the entirety of Drexel. In addition to providing comments on drafts within the seven standards, you will have the opportunity to upload evidence to support the claims made within the self-study. The evidence can include strategic plans, policies, organizational charts and data to be placed in the evidence repository, which frequently has 200-300 pages to supplement the self-study.

The self-study public comment will open on July 7, 2026,

Next Steps in the MSCHE Review

Following public comment on the self-study, suggested edits and evidence will be reviewed before the document is submitted. A peer evaluation team will then read the self-study and examine the evidence repository before conducting a site visit with Drexel faculty, staff and students from October 25-28, 2026. More details will follow in future communications.
