91制片厂 Symphony Orchestra
You may not register until you have taken an audition and been accepted. Admission is by audition. DUSO rehearses and performs works from the great lexicon of orchestral music. Recent concerts have included Sibelius Symphony No. 2; Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 ("Emperor"); Britten Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra; Nimrod from Elgar's Enigma Variations; and Shostakovitch Symphony No. 5. Guest soloists have included David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra; Matthew Gallagher, principal trumpet with Philly POPS; international piano soloist Marcantonio Barone; and members of the Philly POPS performing with DUSO in a side-by-side concert of pop and movie music. Masterclasses by our guest soloists are provided for DUSO members, are free and are open to the public for auditing. Each year a Solo Competition is offered to eligible DUSO members; the winner performs with the Orchestra during either the winter or spring term concert.
91制片厂 Symphony Orchestra rehearses once a week (Wednesday, 7:00 PM – 9:50 PM) and performs one concert at the end of fall, winter and spring terms.
Performance Scholarships are available for string players who are accepted into 91制片厂 Symphony Orchestra (woodwind, brass and percussion scholarships for orchestra are provided through the Concert Band). Auditions for the 91制片厂 Symphony Orchestra and scholarship recommendation will be held during Admitted Students Days. Contact 91制片厂 Music Program director, Luke Abruzzo, laa24@drexel.edu, to learn more and to schedule your audition.
