As the Federal Trade Commission readied an antitrust investigation of Google's business practices, Dean聽Roger Dennis discussed the potential challenges faced by government lawyers in which appeared on聽CBS online affiliate BNET on June 24.聽
Dennis聽said abuse of market power claims are one of the more subtle issues in antitrust law.
鈥淭his is the classic tension in antitrust law," Dennis聽said.聽"You want people to compete like the dickens aggressively, but then, if they become highly successful like Google, how much do you pull them back from the strategies that made them successful?鈥
Dennis also noted聽that the company could face significant聽costs聽to聽defend itself against such claims.
