Three members of the faculty presented at the Third Biennial International Applied Storytelling Conference at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, July 9-10.
Professor Deborah Gordon鈥檚 presentation, 鈥淭ales of Life and Death,鈥 explored the use of stories in estate planning and the writing of wills and other testamentary documents.
Professors Clare Keefe Coleman and Amy Montemarano presented 鈥淭he Power of Story to Affect Legislation: Farmer David versus Agribusiness Goliath and the Safety of our Food.鈥 They discussed amendments in a food safety bill that exempt local farmers from safety requirements as an example of storytelling鈥檚 capacity to overshadow data in legislative debate and decision-making.
The conference was co-sponsored by the Clinical Legal Education Association and the Legal Writing Institute.
