Center for Hunger-Free Communities Director Mariana Chilton, PhD, MPH, and聽Network Advisory Council members Alisha Gillespie and Kia McCray were featured in WHYY story about the聽Building Wealth and Health Network聽and others aiming to bridge the gap for families living in poverty in Philadelphia.

鈥淧overty is for me 鈥 the hustle everyday just to get the bare necessities. That is what poverty is to me. Just to be able to survive,鈥 Gillespie said. 鈥淵ou have to fight for everything you want and need.鈥

"It's important that we actually view these federal policies, allowing the child tax Care Credit to expire, is intentional neglect, and is in the form of structural abuse of children," said Chilton.
