      91制片厂 President John Fry, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Superintendent William Hite, PhD, community members and area elected officials gathered at Morton McMichael Elementary School on Dec. 21 to officially announce that the community surrounding Drexel in West Philadelphia has won the 2016 Promise Neighborhoods Program Implementation Grant Competition. Drexel was the lead applicant of the grant, on which the City of Philadelphia, The School District of Philadelphia and several other area groups and non-profits also partnered.

      A Drexel public health researcher used a population health view to describe disparities in the death of males in the United States due to legal intervention. He found that black males are almost three times as likely to die as their white peers.

      On December 1, students and faculty from Drexel and other area universities gathered to reflect on implications and impact of the presidential election for the practice of public health. Ana Diez Roux, MD, PhD, MPH, Dean of the Dornsife School of Public Health, moderated the discussion – charging a panel of faculty and students from the school to analyze what the election outcome may mean for the field and what the public health community should be thinking about and doing together.
