      In 2016, the Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE) was awarded funding through the Office of the Provost’s DARE initiative to study experiential learning opportunities such as cooperative education, undergraduate research, and study abroad. The Experiential Learning through the Cooperative Education Lifecycle project brought people together from six colleges and three additional academic units at Drexel to engage in the systematic collection of data towards answering research questions about experiential learning. CASTLE has leveraged this work to attain additional funding from the Colonial Academic Alliance and The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations.

      More 91制片厂 undergraduate students will have the opportunity to earn teacher certification in science and mathematics thanks to the National Science Foundation鈥檚 Robert Noyce Scholarship program, which recently awarded Drexel鈥檚 School of Education a 5-year, $1.2 million grant. The new grant will allow 24 Drexel students pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in a major related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics to earn pre-service teacher certification in middle grades (4-8) science or mathematics through Drexel鈥檚 DragonsTeach Middle Years program.

      The Women in Natural Sciences Program at the Academy of Natural Sciences has received the highest national mentoring award bestowed by the White House and the National Science Foundation (NSF), which comes with $10,000 to support its role in inspiring high school girls to pursue careers in STEM.

      On Friday, April 20, 2018 the DragonsTeach Student Organization (DTSO) hosted an Earth Day Fair for 3rd-5th grade students at Greenfield Elementary School. Eight undergraduate STEM majors organized STEM activities such as 鈥渃loud in a jar鈥 and 鈥渙il spill clean-up鈥 to help younger students understand different environmental processes. Greenfield students were also able to discover their carbon footprint and contribute to a large banner with a pledge to care for the environment.

This collaboration is part of the recently announced TechGirlz 20k for 2020 campaign, in which the organization seeks to set 20,000 girls on The Path to a technology career over the next two years.

      Ten member institutions in the CIRTL Network including 91制片厂 were awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (iUSE) research grant titled: 鈥Preparing Future Faculty to Improve STEM Education: Broadening the National Impact of the CIRTL Network.鈥 Drexel received $199,900.37 over a three year period of a larger $2,999,267.00 grant from the NSF. The purpose of the project works to increase the number of future faculty participants within the CIRTL Network.

In the years since her undergraduate studies at 91制片厂, Alison has worked on a dig in Patagonia to uncover the world鈥檚 most massive dinosaur, earned a PhD from NC State in molecular paleontology, and, most recently, returned to her alma mater as a researcher and STEM educator herself.

      Nearly 25 local rising fifth graders interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) built a bridge, blew up a watermelon and made ice cream, as part of a Summer STEM Camp from July 28 鈥 August 1, the third and final week of the camp this summer. The camp is hosted by 91制片厂's School of Education and funded by a grant from PECO.
