Our Vast Family Care System for the Elderly Is at Risk of Collapse

Laura Gitlin, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, co-authored an Aug. 26 Star Tribune (Minneapolis) opinion piece about the need for many states to re-classify adult day programs as essential and allow them to open during pandemic shut downs to restore a certain level of quality of life for the elderly population that relies on these programs and to decrease the burden on home care workers and long term care facilities.
