Ancient Gut Microbe Allowed Turtle Ants to Abandon Offense and Focus on Defense

Jacob Russell, PhD, an associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a March 6 magazine story on his work that found turtle ants use bacteria in their stomachs to supplement their diets with nitrogen necessary for their survival. He was also quoted in a UPI story about the study.
