Drexel to Open Office in Washington, D.C.
91制片厂 has announced it will open an office in Washington, D.C. that will serve as a multifunctional academic and outreach center for the University and its online subsidiary .
The 91制片厂 Washington, D.C. Office will be located at the Lafayette Tower at 801 17th Street, N.W., a central location that will further broaden the Drexel brand and allow for opportunities to attract more online students. The office is scheduled to open in January 2013.
顿谤别虫别濒鈥檚 in conjunction with the University鈥檚 , , , and will use the office for academic outreach. The D.C. Office will also serve as a base to reach out to Congress and the federal government for support of the University鈥檚 teaching, research and service missions, which are led by the Office of Government and Community Relations.
鈥湺侔鸪姹鸨翕檚 expansion to the Washington, D.C. area comes at a propitious time for our University,鈥 said Drexel President. 鈥淥ur presence in D.C. will allow our faculty to better connect with key research agencies in the region and also provides the opportunity for us to extend our reach in a growing market where there are many jobs for which a Drexel education is specifically aligned.鈥
The D.C. Office will target potential online students from Richmond, Va. to Baltimore, Md. It will also allow for Drexel to establish connections with experts in the federal government that could serve as adjunct teaching faculty for the University.
When the D.C. Office opens its doors, 顿谤别虫别濒鈥檚 colleges and schools will use the space to promote online and predominantly graduate programs. The iSchool will offer master鈥檚 degrees in library and information science, information systems, software engineering and health care informatics. 顿谤别虫别濒鈥檚 College of Nursing and Health Professions will focus on its online bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in nursing and bachelor鈥檚 degrees in health services administration. Goodwin College will offer a variety of certificates in construction management, project management, property management and hospitality management, while the School of Education will offer master鈥檚 degrees in education policy, international and global education, educational administration leadership and educational professional development. The Earle Mack School of Law will use the D.C. Office for opportunities.
The site will strengthen 顿谤别虫别濒鈥檚 research capabilities in D.C. by providing offices and conference facilities for research faculty, enabling them to establish new research contacts in the areas of cybersecurity, health care, higher education and public policy.
The office will also be used by 顿谤别虫别濒鈥檚 non-academic units, including the Offices of the President, Provost, Admissions, Government Relations, Alumni Relations and Institutional Advancement.
Founded in 1891 in Philadelphia, Drexel is the nation鈥檚 14th largest private university and is ranked among the best national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Drexel is widely recognized for its focus on experiential learning through its cooperative education program and translational research initiatives.
