      Seven members of the SALURBAL-Climate team participated in the Second World Conference on Air Pollution and Health from March 24 to 28, 2025. This event, led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Colombian Ministry of Health, convened over 700 participants from 100 countries who came together in Cartagena, Colombia.

      Siete miembros del equipo SALURBAL-Clima estuvieron presentes durante marzo 24 al 28 del 2025 en la Segunda Conferencia Mundial sobre Contaminación del Aire y Salud. Dicho evento, liderado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y el Ministerio de Salud del Gobierno Colombiano, reunió a más de 700 participantes de 100 países que se dieron cita en Cartagena, Colombia.

      A new SALURBAL study published in The Lancet Global Health explores the complex relationship between cancer mortality rates and socioeconomic development in 343 cities across nine Latin American countries. The study analyzed data from 2015 through 2019 to map the geographic distribution of cancer deaths for seven common types of cancer: breast, lung, colorectal, stomach, liver, prostate, and cervical. The findings provide valuable insights into the impact of socioeconomic factors on cancer outcomes in urban Latin America.

      Um artigo do projeto SALURBAL-Clima, publicado recentemente na Nature Cities, destaca grandes iniquidades na exposição a inundações em 276 cidades de oito países da América Latina.  Os resultados revelam que os residentes de vizinhanças com os menores níveis de escolaridade sofreram, em média, quatro vezes (4,3) mais inundações do que aqueles que vivem em vizinhanças com maior nível educacional.

The research, led by Josiah Kephart PhD, MPH, an assistant professor at the 91制片厂 Urban Health Collaborative, and a team of investigators from Latin America.

      Un artículo de SALURBAL-Clima publicado recientemente en Nature Cities evidencia las inequidades en la exposición a inundaciones en 276 ciudades de ocho países de América Latina.  El estudio encontró que los barrios con niveles educativos más bajos tenían 4.3 veces más probabilidad de haber estado expuestos a una inundación, en comparación con los barrios con un nivel educativo más alto.
