A groundbreaking new study led by Drexel physics PhD student Riya Shah provides insight into the origins of neutrinos, the nearly massless subatomic particles that may help explain how galaxies are formed and evolve. 

Relyea majored in biology with a concentration in cellular molecular genetics and biochemistry and a minor in sociology. During her first year, she got involved with the SEA-PHAGES program, which gives students hands-on research experience in their very first term.

Alford majored in communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in organizational management. A co-op with Comcast's HR team helped her figure out her career goals.

Memon majored in global studies with a concentration in global justice and human rights, and minored in political science, Spanish and law—a combination she knew would help her achieve her goal of helping marginalized communities as a public interest lawyer.

Jade Umstead was interested in both the criminal justice system and the psychology behind crime and found that curriculum in Drexel’s Department of Criminology and Justice Studies allowed students to immerse themselves in both of these different but related disciplines.

Recent College of Arts and Sciences graduates Asad Baig and Alexandra Goodin were awarded Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants for 2025-26. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for one year of graduate study, research, creative projects or teaching English worldwide.

On World Malaria Day, we met with Ali Afify, PhD, assistant professor of biology, to find out how malaria mosquitos use their keen sense of smell (olfaction) to bite us and make egg-laying decisions. The Afify lab at 91��Ƭ�� is pioneering new malaria mosquito control methods, by exploring safe chemical repellents that can prevent biting and egg-laying where humans live.

The College of Arts and Sciences' annual Honors Day event gives our faculty, staff and alumni an opportunity to honor our students’ achievements in the classroom, lab and community. 

The English Language Center (ELC) continues to meet a key part of its mission of preparing students to participate fully in the Drexel community, including gaining admission to undergraduate and graduate programs of study. The ELC held a Decision Day 2025 party to celebrate students' confirmations to Drexel and other colleges and universities across the U.S.

Thanks to a recent gift from Robert “Rob” Silverman, BS ’69, Drexel’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program will be more accessible to the next generation of writers. The MFA program’s work toward fostering creativity and excellence in writing inspired Silverman’s gift, which pledges $25,000 over the next five years to fund MFA Merit Scholarships.
