Bio:
R. Andrew Hicks is a professor of mathematics at 91制片厂. Professor Hicks’ main interests are geometry and inverse problems in geometric optics. He graduated from Queens College CUNY in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics. He received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995, with a thesis titled “Groups Actions and the Topology of Nonnegatively Curved Four-Manifolds." From 1996-99 he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania , where he developed panoramic vision systems for the control of mobile robots. For this work, and related inventions that solve the blind spot problem for motor vehicles, he holds four U.S. patents.
